A drabble is a story composed of exactly 100 words. They can be a fun writing exercise. Here is one of mine.

Interview with the Fantasy Writer

“So, where do you get your ideas?”
“I subscribe to a service out of Jersey. They send me 200 ideas a month.”
The interviewer laughs, recognizing the old joke. “No. Really. Where do writers get their ideas?”
“I listen to country-western songs. I adapt them to my genre. Truckers and cowboys translate into knights and heroes very well.”
He laughs again. Our time is up.
We shake hands. He has known many people, conducted many interviews. One touch is all I need to start the flow. My mind enfolds the ideas that were his.
        He departs, smiling absent-mindedly.
        I write.
