Europe and Worldcon!

Kat and I are barely home from San Diego Comic Con.  It feels as if we just have time to unpack the suitcases, run the laundry, and repack them again before we are off again.

On August 2, we will depart from SeaTac in Washington and begin our journey.  We will arrive in Warsaw, Poland on August 3, to spend a few days with our publisher there.  I do not know if there will be any opportunities for me to meet with readers and sign books.  As soon as I know, I will post that information there.

On August 7, we fly to Munich, Germany. Again, our time there is completely at the disposal of our German publishers.  I do not think any bookstore stops are scheduled, but when I know for certain, I will share that information here and on Facebook.

On August 8 (yes, just one day later) we will depart for Helsinki, Finland and the Worldcon!

Here is my schedule for that convention:  (Please note!  I did not write the descriptions!)

Animals as Characters in Fantasy

Is high fantasy just wish-fulfilment or does it have a place in the field of contemporary fantasy?

Systems of Magical Healing
Sunday August 6 11:00 – 12:00, 101a&b (Messukeskus)
Making sense out of healing by magic and keeping it from being a story-breaker. Sometimes you just need a doctor, but in Fantasyland a healer has to do. Magical healing is a surprisingly common and yet complex issue. The panel will discuss the ramifications of magical healing and which texts they feel illustrate some of the more nuanced approaches to getting your heroes and heroines back on their feet.
Anatoly Belilovsky  , Robin Hobb  , Jo Lindsay Walton (M) , Adrian Tchaikovsky , Mark Tompkins

SOCKS!!!!   I have noticed that in the images published by the Worldcon committee, the members seem to be flaunting their fancy Finnish socks!  I am, of course, consumed with envy.  So I will bring a dozen pairs of uniquely Pacific Northwest Socks with me (new ones!) in the hopes of doing a sock exchange with Finnish readers or other convention members!  Please keep that in mind if you plan to attend Worldcon this year!
