When the Farseer Trilogy was first published in the US, Assassin’s Apprentice and Royal Assassin were first issued as trade paperbacks (oversized paperbacks) and then as standard ones, with cover art by Michael Whalen. Assassin’s Quest was published as a hardback with cover art by Steven Youll. Each presentation was lovely in its own way, but in the US, there has never been a matching set of hardcovers of The Farseer Trilogy.
That’s about to change.
Subterranean Press is now accepting pre-orders for the hardcovers, as individual volumes or a boxed set. John Howe, noted Tolkien artist, has created the artwork for these volumes, just as he did for the original hardbacks in the UK.
I’ve ordered a number of books from Subterranean, and each time I’ve been extremely pleased with the workmanship and quality of the book itself. I feel honored to see this level of quality being applied to hardbacks of the Farseer Trilogy.
These are being done as limited editions, and most Subterranean volumes sell out quickly.
