Updates Diverse!

Let’s see, what should I put first here?  So much fun stuff to talk about!  Fantasy photography calendars, my wrap up of Jet City Comic Show in Tacoma, the 20th Anniversary Edition of Assassin’s Apprentice . . .

Let’s make some headings!

Worldbuilders Charity benefits from sales of Beyond Words calendar!!!

You can buy this calendar because you know that the proceeds from it are going to Patrick Rothfuss’s charity Worldbuilders, which in turn benefits Heifer International.  What is Heifer International?  It’s found on the old concept of ‘give a man a fish, or teach a woman to fish!’  It provides small livestock to people living on the edge, who can then raise chickens or goats for food and their offspring.  That’s the thumbnail sketch of where you money goes.

But the fun part for you is the photographs of various fantasy and SF authors done up in fantastic costumes and photographed.  Here’s mine!

And of course there were 11 other authors who were coerced or persuaded by Lauren Zurchen to participate.  Click Lauren’s blog to order your calendar!  They also make great holiday gifts.

Assassin’s Apprentice  20th Anniversary Edition

Yes, it has been 20 years since Fitz and Fool wandered onto the pages of books in a bookstore. They’d been with me for several years before that; books and stories take a long time to simmer before they are ready to be served.  And Voyager in the UK is publishing a beautiful edition of Assassin’s Apprentice to celebrate!

Now, that image can scarcely do it justice.  You can tell that it’s Buckkeep blue, in a lovely slipcase, but you can barely see the embossed pattern by Jackie Morris.  Nor can you peek inside to see the beautiful endpapers by John Howe.  Luckily, I have a link to his site where you can get a peek at the original sketch for it.  And if you follow the Jackie Morris link, you will see all the covers she has done for my books!

Jet City Comic Show

It’s done.  It’s gone.  You missed it.

But there is next year!  If you want to torment yourself by seeing what you missed, here’s the website:  http://www.jetcitycomicshow.com/  And if you’d like to see some of the wonderful things I saw, I’ve added a few photos.  Kids in costumes, trick or treating!  Bomber girl, on my Jet City badge.  Office Kat, stealing one of MY free books from 47 North.  My lovely table and booth. And more kids in costume, trick or treating.  And we had the best candy to give away, too!
