Within a week, I’ll be leaving Tacoma and heading for San Antonio, Texas and Worldcon!  LoneStarCon will run from Thursday, August 29th to September 2nd. It is also the 71st Worldcon.
I will be there from Thursday through Sunday.
There is an interactive guide to all the panels on the Worldcon site, so I’ll just mention mine briefly:

Saturday evening from 7 PM on, I’ll be dropping in at Reddit Fantasy’s Drinks with the Authors at a place called Ernie’s Bar located in the Crockett Hotel, just behind the Marriott Riverwalk. (320 Bonham)  This is the offical Reddit Fantasy meetup for the weekend.  It’s a relaxed open invitaion event for writers and readers to mingle and chat.
The Reality at the Foundation of Fantasy: Does Fantasy Fiction need to Acknowledge Physics?

Sunday 11:00 – 12:00
Fantasy needs rules to make it real. To what degree do these rules have to reflect the rules of the real world? Where and to what degree can fantasy depart from physics?

In addition to my panels, I’ll be merrily wandering about the convention. Please don’t hesitate to stop me and say hi! I hope to spend a bit of time at the Reddit fantasy fan table, though no definite time for that is set yet. And I will also be at the Tachyon Publications Table in the dealers room on Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30 to sign copies of EPIC, the anthology edited by John Joseph Adams that has been nominated for a World Fantasy Award. You’ll be able to find Mary Robinette Kowal and Carrie Vaughn signing there, too!

After WorldCon, I’ll be traveling up to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for Bookmarks
I’ll have two events there, one for the high school students of North Forsyth High on Friday, September 6th, and a public event at BookMarks on September 7th. From 2 to 2:45, I’ll be doing a presentation in the Artworks Gallery, followed by a signing.

I’ll hope to see some of you there!
