Assassin’s Apprentice in Hardback in the UK

Assassin’s Apprentice is the first volume in The Farseer Trilogy, my first work as Robin Hobb.

It has never been available in hardback in the US.  And the UK editions with the stunning John Howe covers quickly sold out.  You can occasionally find them on E-bay for shocking sums of money.

I frequently receive queries as to how to find this book in hardcover.  HarperCollins Voyager is offering a solution to that knotty problem.  This is a cloth bound book intended for those who would like to make a permanent edition to their library.

  1. Do you know if there are any plans to release Royal Assassin and Assassin’s Quest in hardback with similar artwork?

I’ve picked up all three of the original UK hardbacks of the Farseer books (yes, at shocking but entirely worthwhle prices), but having pristine new copies of all three would sit well on the bookshelf.

Looking forward on your visit to the UK later this year. Now back to reading The Wilful Princess….

  2. Please, would you tell me that the JOHN HOWE’s paintings in Assassin’s Apprentice (UK Hardcover) are colourful or black-white?

  3. Durak, I think you misunderstood. There are no John Howe illustrations in the new UK hardcover of Assassin’s Apprentice. My reference was to the first edition of the work, which did indeed have John’s art on the cover.

  4. Thanks for the tip! I picked up AA along with a couple of other Voyager titles yesterday. I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if you hadn’t joined Goodreads.

  5. Hi Robin,
I love that Harper Collins is doing a cloth bound version of Assassin’s Apprentice – but a bit miffed that they won’t be doing Royal Assassin and Assassin’s Quest as well. So I emailed them. They said they weren’t ruling out doing the set, but that it depends on how well Assassin’s Apprentice does. So hopefully it does well enough to see the other two done as well!
