Home again and back at my desk!

With many wonderful memories of Elf Fantasy Fair and the Netherlands.  So much work to catch up on here!  But I’ll share a few photos to give you an idea of my wonderful visit.

This was the bedchamber in the loft of my room at the Ambassade Hotel.  I always love staying there.  I had a wonderful view of the canal from my window. The staff there is multi-lingual and always makes me feel so welcome. The hotel caters to writers, so they have a huge library of books autographed by the authors who have stayed there.

At Elf Fantasy Fair, I had the opportunity to meet all sorts of characters. The costuming was amazing, as was the setting.  It’s the only gathering of this kind held on the grounds of a castle, as far as I know. Here is just a glimpse of the folk one might encounter there:

And then there was Eefje Poppelaars:

Elf Fantasy Fair 2012 Eefje as The Fool

And with that tantalizing glimpse, I have to end this post and go get the oil changed in my car.  Sigh. So hard to come back to chill grey reality.  But what would be even worse would be to sit by the side of the freeway with a seized up engine!

No, wait, one more! From a lovely luncheon I had with readers at Cultuurcafe Noordwijk.  One of the great pleasures of these visits is that I often have the opportunity to meet old friends from my newsgroup.  Here I am with Si2Au!

I wish I’d had the forethought to get some snapshots of the whole gathering!

And now I’d better hurry before they give my oil change appointment away!

  1. Well it had been Sunday instead of Saturday but it was REALLY nice to meet you 🙂

Castlefest in August is very much alike but with more music. Though the castle isn´t that great.

  2. I can’t believe it. I’m from The Netherlands and I absolutely love your books. I googled a bit today and I saw you were here and I totally missed it. Missed It. Some serious head-against-desk-action happened when I found that out. I’m so sorry and I hope you’ll visit my country again some times because, trust me, I am so going to be there. I would love to meet you sometime and I am glad you enjoyed your stay in this small place on the other side of the ocean.

  3. Hi Robin,

The Arcen edition of Elf Fantasy Fair is also held in the garden of a castle.
As for pictures of the whole gathering, there are some on my website. I’ll make sure you get the hi-res versions.

    I really don’t photograph well…..

  4. Hi Robin,

It’s been a while since I’ve said hello.
I’ve moved from australia to New Zealand
so I have been just snowed under with my life! but I did just pick up your latest book. I’m 22 pages in and loving it! can’t wait to go home and read more. Oh I also loved “the inheritance” anthology, ah the sweet agony you manage to expose in your writing, love it.

    all the best
