Book Four, out the Door. Again!

I have been out of touch lately. Deliberately so.

For the last couple of months, I’ve been fleeing Tacoma from Thursday to Sunday, to hide out in my Fortress of Solitude (sometimes known as our pocket farm near Roy) .  I leave the Internet mostly behind on my marginal feed down there, and I focus on writing.

It really works.

Tonight I finally sent of the rewrites of what has become volume four of The Rain Wild Chronicles.  It was a massive rewrite and I actually feel very gratefulfor the opportunity to greatly improve the book.  It is planned that volumes 3 and 4 of the Chronicles will both come out in 2012 in the US, UK, Australia and the Netherlands.

So. What’s next?  Well, jump right onto the next writing project, of course!

And start planning for the Great Cross Country Expedition to Renovation!

I am sure Reno and Worldcon will never be the same!

  1. So many questions…

    … that I don’t really want answered.

Not that you would. 🙂 Though I ‘know’ its not going to happen, I just would love it if someone who knew of Fitz’ tapestry encountered Thymara.

Will we see the Tarman group shoved into the larger political spotlight somewhat? Or will it remain very centered on the group’s personal experiences? ❓

  2. Hi robin,
Yay, can’t wait i am so excited. running out of books to read! i have nearly finished reading the reindeer people so will have to buy wolf brother now. Are you planning to visit the UK in 2012?

  3. Hooray, Hooray.
I started with the Rainwild Chronicals, then went right back to the Assassin’s Apprentice. It has taken me a couple of months but I am now up to the Fool’s Fate. I cannot seem to put your books down. I definitely cannot wait to read volumes 3 and 4 of the Rainwilds 🙂 Don’t know what I’m going to read in the meantime.

  4. Oh, exciting! I’ve been really looking forward to the new Rain Wild Chronicles novels. Great to hear they’re on track. 😀

  5. That is brilliant news… ! Just finished Haven this very moment. And i enjoyed every second of it. So beautifully intricate. And gentle. “Tongue tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I”
    With thanks. D.

  7. Dear Robin, Have just finished rereading all of your books. They are just as compelling the second time around. I just finished “Dragon Haven” and I was looking for information about a possible next book to the story. I am happy to hear that their will 2 more stories to enjoy. I love your chaaracters and the stories of their lives. Can’t wait to read the next one. Jill

  8. Congratulations! 2012 can’t come any sooner…

(I hope that your editor does a better job with these ones, compared to the other two, hehe.)

looks like I’ll have to ration out the last few stories in ‘the inheritance’ to get my fix until next year.

Will we see any Megan Lindholm classed adventures in the near future?

  9. Oh well i was looking for an excuse to come visit the US and now i have one! 😆 I have also orderd a limited edition of The Inheritance so cant wait for that to arrive, i went a bit mad on the credit card ordering your books hopefully keep me going till 3 and 4 come out! 😀

  10. 😀 I can’t wait for these books!

My mum gave me Assassin’s Apprentice when i was 10; (I’m 14 now) and I fell in love with them straight away… So I think this calls for a re-read of your previous books. And then obviously pre-ordering the rest of The Rain Wild Chronicals.

The excitement is pouring out of me!

  11. Im jsut finishing book two – SOOO excited to know that there are another two books to come!
    Shame about the maps. 😀

  12. Any chance there is going to be a book that takes place in the icy shores and/or glacier planes?

I would love to see what kind of people would live there 😉

  13. Hey,

I live in Sri Lanka and just read the lot of your books, it was soooo hard to get them over here but i managed. I really liked your personal style and cant wait for the Rain Wild series books to come out. Sadly if it is out by 2012 then we will get it here only in 2013!!! Hope to see more fantacy from you! 🙂

  14. I love your books 😀 i have read all of the Realm of the Elderling books. Do you know in what quarter of 2012 they will be published? will they be published at the same time?

  16. Oh wow. Congratulations! I can’t wait for 2012. I just finished re-reading homecoming and the inheritance and I miss the world and stories already.

  17. hi Robin,i have read your Farseer trilogy and the Tawny Man trilogy i have to tell you i have never read any book that comes even close to them i was totally captivated from start to finnish.i was put on to them by a friend and i can honestly say that it was the best recommendation i have ever been given,i could not put any of them down i went to bed, work, and woke up thinking about them, and now a few years down the track they are still my favorite books,i truly wish the story had never ended, ive never read anything like them, ive also read the soilder son trilogy and loved that too,not as big an impact as the other two trilogy’s but still loved it,i havent read the rain wild series yet but am going to now.your an absolutely amazing writer and i look forward to reading future books to the farseer and tawny man caliber,in total awe of you. cheers 🙂

  18. Ms. Hobb, I stumbled across your books by accident while searching for Robin McKinley books on my Kindle. There was an offer for a free book (AA) by a Robin Hobb so I got it, read it, and I’ve loved your stuff ever since. I have the Apprentice set, the Fool set, and the Liveship set, and the two RWC on my Kindle and I’ve read each one twice! I can’t wait to get the last 2 RWC. Thanks for publishing on Kindle.

  19. Wow! 😮 I’ve been stalking this site for months, waiting for a clue about when I’ll be able to get hold of book three. Since there will also be a book four (Oh, JOY!), I will endeavor to exercise patience. 2012 seems so far away, but there’s the Labor Day vacation to the Olympic Peninsula, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas to fill the time between. I think I will be able to bear the wait. 😀

  20. Oh! And, like so many other fans, I have been re-reading the others. Just finished the Farseers and began the Madships this weekend. Like visiting with old friends!

  21. Dave, I’m responding to your question about Renegade’s Magic for the Kindle.

My editor told me this appears to be a Kindle problem. It’s up at the iBookstore. They are contacting Amazon to see what the problem is. Thanks for calling my attention to this!

    Robin

  22. Like Lisa, I was very excited about book 3 so it is fantastic to pop in and check news and find out there is a book 4 in the pipeline as well. Thank you.

  23. Yay! I’m still making my way through the Soldier Son Trilology, but my Mum is uber pumped for more in Liveship Traders! I’ll have to get into them soon too! 😉
    Hope the writing goes well!

  24. I’m thrilled that there are not one, but two more books in the series, but it is just SO UNFAIR that you know what happens next and we don’t.
    🙁
    Can’t wait for next year!
