   I needed a coat this morning, and now it is all the way up to 71. Come to Piedmont, CA. You can be 15 minutes from the forest, the ocean, the city, or the ghetto.

   We haven’t hit 90 once, let alone 100, this July in Minneapolis. That’s very unusual. It’s been a very comfortable, though dry, Summer for us. Good biking weather. Good luck with the heat.

   I feel your pain – it’s currently over 100 in Portland. These are the days I miss the 5-10 degree cooler weather of the Puget Sound region. Not that that wish helps in this instance, but still.

   After the freak snowstorm around Christmas I had a feeling that this year was going to be in the proverbial gutter weather-wise.

   Seriously! can you imagine if it hit 40c’s here? We’d have an apocolypse style panic followed by some serious mass fretting! I mean, look how excited we got when it snowed last year.

   I’ve heard a lot about the crazy-hot weather you guys are having in the Pacific Northwest.

   Oddly, we’re having record lows for this time of year in Colorado. It’s supposed to be in the low 40′s tonight. We’ve had rain every other day all summer. Such an odd season… typically right now we’re smoldering.

   But I’m definitely not complaining!

    Today I was looking at the weather map, carefully considering Alaska. or Canada. Someplace with sane weather.

    Ahahahahahah. Good luck with that. We had RAIN this month. Rain! It never rains here in July.

    Thank the Lord, it’s a big cooler this evening than we expected. I may actually get to sleep.

    We’ll be visiting Portland later this month. You seem to have a plethora of interesting colleges and universities for my daughter to check out.

    Any advice for a possible future Portlandite? (Portlandean?)

    It’s been cooling off in spades here – I’ve been ensconced at the bf’s place with A/C this past week, I don’t know how I would have survived the heat otherwise.

    I don’t know much about the universities down here as I’ve only been living here a couple of years, I pretty much know that PSU is on the edge of downtown Portland and has a stellar farmers market in the spring/summer, and there’s one in North Portland that I can’t quite remember the name of.

    I grew up in Seattle, so I’m more familiar with those unis than the ones down here.

    As much as we’d welcome you in Canada, for the last week or so the Yukon has been the hottest spot in the country and that’s just across the border from Alaska.

    well, France is not an option either then because in some regions today the températures will go up to 96 F today and down here in Geneva, they’re announcing 82.4F at the highest point. I’m dying and I have no basement I can hide into.

    Luckily i’m going in holidays tomorrow in Normandy (near Omaha beach) and that’s the coolest place in France, so it’ll be cooler as temperatures never reach more than 71F. Or so I’ve been told. (but then Uk is just a Channel away) *grins*
